The incident took place in a private hospital in Konya in mid-2018. Allegedly, infectious diseases specialist Dr. DU told his friend MH that he was HIV positive as a result of a series of tests.

His friend Dr. MH, who filed a complaint alleging that DU knowingly misdiagnosed her, won the legal battle that lasted nearly 3 years. The defendant doctor was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison for “forgery of official documents” and 3 months and 22 days in prison for “sexual harassment”.

Victim MH stated that he was relatively satisfied with the result and expressed sadness that the doctor was still on duty. MH said, “He made me use heavy drugs for a long time with the fake report he gave even though I was not sick. These drugs caused wounds to appear on my body. I was psychologically disturbed. I had to leave my fiancé and my job. I feel sad that the person who did this to me is still practicing as a doctor. “He can make someone else experience what he put me through,” he said.

Emphasizing that they will file a lawsuit for material and moral damages against the defendant and the hospital where he still works, Elif Kazancı, the lawyer of the victim MH, said, “Our 3-year struggle is over. Justice was served. It turned out that our client was right and the defendant was punished. In this process, the defendant suffered a punishment that could go as far as disqualification from the profession.” “He was punished,” he said.
