According to Ministry of Health sources, when carotid artery occlusion disease is suspected and diagnosed, MR angiography or CT angiography and classical ‘conventional’ carotid angiography are performed free of charge in public hospitals. Authorities stated that the examination was performed with a drug that colors the veins and that the drug was administered intravenously and the imaging was performed in 5 minutes.

Stating that the number of people with more than 50 percent stenosis in the jugular vein is 1.5 percent of the population between the ages of 30-79 and that 600 thousand people in our country survive in this way, Health Sciences University Siyami Ersek Hospital and General Secretary of the Turkish Cardiovascular Surgery Association. Assoc. Dr. Murat Sargın said: “Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, family history of coronary artery disease or carotid artery disease are risks. Blurred vision, partial vision disorders, confusion, numbness, and carotid artery narrowing may be symptoms. “If there are risk factors, the person should consult a doctor.”
