Stating that the incidence of fatty liver has increased recently, Prof. Dr. Onur Yaprak said, “Today, in addition to overweight people, fatty liver has also increased in underweight or normal weight people. Fatty liver occurs when more than 5 percent of liver cells become fat cells. Fatty liver has become one of the biggest problems in today’s world. Steatosis is when fat cells begin to constitute more than 5 percent of the liver’s normal cells. We can divide oil into three categories: mild, moderate and severe. The rate of adiposity is increasing dramatically around the world. While it was around 10 percent 20 years ago, today we can say that one in every four people, that is, 25 percent of the society, has a fatty liver. “In fact, in Turkey this rate is around 30 percent,” he said.
