According to the news in the BBC, the suspects are accused of stealing $250 million from a government aid program to provide food service to children in need during the epidemic.

The Minnesota-based nonprofit Feeding Our Future is accused of orchestrating the conspiracy, while 47 suspects allegedly spent the money on properties, cars and luxury goods.

FBI Director Christopher Wray said this “terrible conspiracy” was the largest ever uncovered.

The US Department of Justice announced that the suspects were charged with stealing $250 million.

MONEY LAUNDERING, BRIBERY AND MORE

In a statement made by the Ministry of Justice, it was claimed that the suspects had issued an invoice by “serving food to children who did not actually exist”.

It was alleged that the suspects created the image of serving food to thousands of children with the fake distribution network they set up.

Feeding Our Future founder Aimee Bock has denied the fraud allegations.

The defendants face charges such as fraud, money laundering and bribery.
