Giant grocery chain Migros, in cooperation with Pol’s “Local Sesame, Local Production” implemented the project. With the project, tahini and halva products produced with local sesame will take their place on the shelves in Migros stores under the Pol’s brand.
In the first phase of the project, sesame was planted in an area of 390 decares in Adana Çukurova region with the contracted agriculture model. A team consisting of 90 percent female producers started working hard in this field.
Thanks to Migros’s purchase guarantee, farmers who started production again were assisted by agricultural engineers during the pre-planting, harvesting and drying processes of the product. “Pol’s Agricultural Coordination” will receive agricultural training and technical support from the team.

The harvest period of local sesame is 120 days.
