> 15 Beautiful Turkish Women Painters Behind Legendary Paintings Introducing Our Contemporary Art of Painting to the World
Hello. Our Turkish female painters are highly appreciated with the exhibitions they hold both in Turkey and in different cities of the world. While some of them produce works based on symbolism and surrealism movements, some of them work on women, nature, city and human themes in their paintings. In this article, I have compiled for you our Turkish women painters who have contributed works to our contemporary art of painting.

1. Burcin Gokcen
The beautiful painter, who does not like to limit himself to one style, is closer to the currents of symbolism and surrealism. She draws her inspiration from sea creatures, women, nature, music, dreams and chaos.
2. Tulin Onat
Born in 1946, the painter is known for his abstract works. Paintings of the painter; filled with translucent figures reminiscent of clustered jellyfish, starfish, algae and coral reefs.
3. Arzu Karcı
The beautiful painter, who has been able to paint with both his right and left hand since he was 4 years old, frequently uses the figures of women and cats in his paintings and at the same time adapts traditional Turkish tile art to contemporary painting.
4. Nihal Martli
There is a woman who is a part of the world in Nihâl Martlı’s paintings. Although the artist mostly seems to focus on the representation of women and figures, he questions art, the status of women and the meaning of life with the roles he brings together.
5. Sevda Uykan
Uykan makes a name for himself with his works on modern-contemporary art. The paintings of the young artist exhibiting his paintings in England also include the art of nudes. He says that although the painter’s paintings received good feedback in England, he received criticism from Turkey.
6. İnci Eviner
The artist, who works in the fields of painting, sculpture, installation art and video art, focuses on line and pattern in his works. In her installations and performances, she deals with the identity of women in particular and the problem of identity in general in a political, cultural and historical context.
7. Sultan Adler
The works of Sultan Adler, a Turkish hanging painter living in Germany, have been exhibited in Turkey and abroad. Adler, who lives and works in Berlin and Istanbul, is particularly known for using the inverted tulip, an endemic plant species of Anatolian geography, in his paintings.
8. Gulsum Keskinoglu
New York-based painter and sculptor Gülsüm Keskinoğlu is known for her works that reflect the inner world of women using sewing needles and punctuation. Contemporary feminist artist works on issues related to the sociological, political and conventional pressures women face on a daily basis.
9. Ece Gauer
The artist, who also takes fashion design, cinema and photography courses in different education programs, works on canvas with an ornamental approach and combines the figurative approach of western art with sacred geometric elements. The artist, who is fed from different cultures, makes use of contrasts in his works. She examines the phenomenon of ‘space-in-between’ through reality and fiction, solid and void, ancient and modern.
10. Gulten Imamoglu
The artist produces works that manage to combine the dynamism of beauty, the determination of death, the infinity of thought and the brutality of reality with the concreteness of art.
11. Nilufer Yildirim
Born in Istanbul and moved to New York, the artist now lives and works between Istanbul and Brooklyn. He produces his works inspired by ideas on the nature of existence and emotional states.
12. Hulya Botasun
The painter, who has opened various exhibitions since 1989, draws attention with his tree-formed acrylic paintings that resemble a human figure on canvas. The artist creates animal portraits, paper works, acrylic and watercolor works, each of which resembles a human.
13. Ayşe Hilal Bilal
Lawyer Ayşe Hilal Bilal, born in 1995, is a first in the history of Balıkesir Bar Association! The young lawyer and painter registered with the bar association became the first painter to open an exhibition in the history of the bar.
14. Hatice Abali
Artist Hatice Abalı, who produces works with symbols unique to Cappadocia, is known for her love for the region on stones. The artist paints his works on stones with a story and creates works unique to the region.
15. Seyda Cesur
Using different tools such as video, performance, photography, plexiglass, paper and canvas in his works, the artist creates works that question the concept of ‘value’ while describing the simplicity of everyday life and the increasingly superficial human being.
