A body was found on the sea surface 3 days ago, in the area where the ship sank off İmralı Island, Bursa’s Karacabey district.
Bursa Forensic Medicine Institute, which identified the body, determined that the lifeless body belonged to Ahmet Atav, the mechanical trainee of the Batuhan A ship that sank on February 15, 2024. Then, Atav’s body was brought to his hometown, Altınova district of Yalova. Atav’s body was buried in Altınova District Cemetery after the funeral prayer performed at noon at Hacı Teyfik Yılmaz Central Mosque.
At the funeral, father Şenol Atav and mother Hatice Demirkaya could barely stand while accepting condolences.
Altınova Mayor Yasemin Çokca also attended the funeral ceremony.
