Residents of the snow-covered Maden village, located on the slopes of the Karçal Mountains in Şavşat district of Artvin, are waiting hopefully for spring to come.

Due to heavy snowfall in winter and spring, Maden village in Şavşat is still covered with a white cover.

In the village, which is 35 kilometers away from the district and where the winter season lasts long, citizens struggle with snow for about 6 months.

While hot weather prevails in many parts of the country, villagers who experience winter in spring due to snow continue to live in difficult conditions.

Those living in the snow-covered village are also making preparations for vineyard and garden work.

“The fields were covered with snow due to snowfall”

Ekrem Kaya, one of the village residents, said that the winter months were difficult in their village.

Stating that they earn their living by farming, Kaya said, “The fields were covered with snow due to snowfall, we pour fertilizer into the potato fields through the channels we opened. We grow products with organic fertilizer, our products are very good with animal manure. Life is difficult here in winter, we deal with animals.” said.

Recep Sarış, who spends his time playing the accordion in the village, stated that he also does beekeeping in the village and said, “I play the accordion as a hobby, this is a village at an altitude of 2 thousand. Winters are long, there is difficulty in transportation. There is a good life in the village, snow and winter are the irony of these. “It snowed a lot this year. The roads here are closed in November and open in April.” he said.
